Framingham Public Schools Celebrates Students’ Multilingual Skills and Achievements

Wednesday, March 25, 2026 (Framingham, MA) - Framingham Public Schools is celebrating its students’ multilingual skills and accomplishments through the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction, and the Language Opportunity Coalition (LOC) Biliteracy Pathway Awards.

Since 2016, Framingham has supported and recognized students in reaching biliteracy milestones in grades 5, 8, and 12. The biliteracy awards recognize students’ home languages, the languages they study in school, and languages learned outside of school. These honors give students the chance to showcase their skills, celebrate their achievements, and grow as confident, multilingual learners. The district is proud of the unique strengths each student brings to their learning journey.

The Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy and the Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction honor graduating seniors who demonstrate high academic and functional proficiency in English and at least one additional language. The Seal appears on students’ diplomas, providing a credential valued by colleges, universities, and employers.

District-level and LOC Pathway Awards celebrate student progress at grades 5, 8, and 12:

  • Biliteracy Participation

  • Biliteracy Attainment

  • Biliteracy Achievement

By centering students’ languages and accomplishments, Framingham Public Schools affirms that multilingualism is a vital skill. These programs empower students to use their linguistic strengths to succeed in college, careers, and as active participants in a global community.
